Animate Intransitive verbs are verbs that only have a subject, no object, and this subject is animate. Examples of animate intransitive (AI) verbs are teluisi 'I am (thus) named', amalgai 'I dance', and ewi'gigei "I write". AI verbs have eleven possible person/number combinations, which reflect their possible subjects.
